January Favorites

Winter in the Windy City is three things: wet, slushy, and snowy. Top it off with frigid temps and it's just downright brutal. But when it comes to winter fashion, it doesn’t have to be.

I'm sharing my winter essentials that are tried and true. As a stylist, my business goes beyond my brick and mortar store, Sanem’s. If there is something my clients are looking for that I don't necessarily have in stock at the boutique, I’ll be sure to find it somewhere else.

Shop along with me by clicking on shoppable images below! And don't forget - now all smart phone users can shop my Instagram posts through the LIKEtoKNOW.it app! Follow these quick and easy steps to get started. Here’s how:

1. DOWNLOAD the LIKEtoKNOW.it app (here) to shop the looks you like from my Instagram

2. SCREENSHOT or 'like' my images - and your other favorite influencers' images - on social media

3. SHOP the products featured in the looks you like

4. BROWSE thousands of shoppable images :)

Now, let's get shopping.

Down filled? I’m down with that!

Your ultimate wardrobe staple for January is outerwear. This is the barrier that shields the brutal Chicago temps and gusts of wind. Its the barrier that keeps you warm and toasty inside.

You need this - The Canada Goose Parka. Down is nature's best insulator. It provides the most warmth for the least amount of weight and bulk. Be sure to look at the features of the coat before you make your purchase. Look to see if the hood is removable, the position of the pockets, vents and zippers. I know there are times I don’t want my hood attached to my coat. Sometimes I want to mix it up and wear my beanie or my grandmother's fur hat.

Another feature that is very important for me is the double zipper. When I am in and out of the car with the kids, that double zipper is a godsend. I pull the zipper up a bit to give my legs room to get in and out of the car. It's not only convenient, it’s comfortable too.

It's also good to have a nice wool coat for your date nights or dressier occasions.

What shoes are you wearing as you’re slushing through the snow? You better not be in your pumps on the way to the work. Leave them under your desk. Travel smart and in style with these cute winter boots. I own Pajar snow boots similar to these and they are the best cold weather snow boot I’ve ever had.

When I’m running errands on the weekends and I want something a little less chunky, these snow boots are my go-to.

We release so much heat from our head so you must keep that noggin warm. The line Frost makes the most fashionable and softest hats.

I carry this line in my boutique and they fly off the shelves. If you are local, come and grab 1 or 2. You’ll thank me later. The fur pom pom is detachable which makes the beanie so easy to clean. (BTW the sunnies in the pic above are Gucci! You can shop them here.)

If you don’t want a fur pom pom on your beanie, here’s one for you.

Honns knows a thing or two about luxury gloves. This family business has been crafting them for over 30 years. We sell this line in the boutique but are currently sold out.

You must click the pic below to grab yourself a pair. Their gloves are made to mimic the natural curve of your hand and fingers. They are also touchscreen ready so you can always stay connected.

Scarf... I included this in my holiday gift guide, but clearly can't get enough of it! Rebecca Minkoff nailed it with this blush scarf.

Now some of my apparel picks for you!

High-waisted jeans...

A cozy jogger pant...

Cozy sweatshirts...

I want my turtleneck to be fitted, not slouchy around the neck. Here’s a fitted one thats perfect. But, if you are looking for the slouchier turtleneck, I've linked that too!

Now some beauty products that really perk me up!

I am obsessed with this Dry Bar product. I carry a small travel size with me seriously wherever I go. It's perfect for an on-the-go bed  head fix or hat hair emergency. All you have to do is spray a little (or a lot depending on the volume situation) product at the roots at least 5-10 inches away. Then massage it into your scalp with your fingertips and tousle it a bit. VOILA. Hat hair no more.

A couple mists of this and my skin is instantly hydrated. Plus you can never go wrong with some Evian mist (I travel everywhere with at least 3 of these).

Keep your pout colored and moisturized with my new fave lipstick. This limited edition collab with MAC + Nicki Minaj is everything. Considering I bought three tubes of this miracle worker, this lipstick is officially my FAVE. #SorryNotSorry Its the perfect shade of nude and super moisturizing. I use it in place of chapstick. The color is Nicki's Nude and you should purchase it immediately!

Dry cracked hands are inevitable this time of year. Keep those babies soft with a little hand lotion! Your hands will thank you later.
